WATERFALL GEM IN CEBU

To be honest with you guys, I’m not exactly an extreme sports/adventure person, but something in me thought it might be a fun idea to try travel in the South of Cebu especially in Badian, Cebu, where you can find “The WaterFall Gem in Cebu” The Kawasan Falls of course. First off, I have no idea what it is or what it entails but the photos seem pretty fun and cool, also when you’re a blogger like me, you do it for the insta (a big L.O.L.). I also called-on my 4 friends to join me for a little Saturday Funday. That wasn’t exactly a bad thing though. Less people in the group mean a faster we can get on, and less people for us to watch over, so I’m guessing it’s probably safer. So, I ended up really enjoying myself and my friends though! Here’s what my friend Ariel Guarren take some photos.

If you don’t have a car, you can hop on a bus at the Cebu South Bus Terminal and have them drop you off at Barangay Matutinao in Badian, Cebu. (In front of the Matutinao Church) for P110-130. Rates depend on whether or not the bus is air conditioned. Since it’s about a 2-3 hour journey, I suggest taking the air conditioned bus! As what I’ve experience is people fight for seats, so it’s best to come early and get comfortable for the long day ahead.

At the beginning of the journey, you’ll be asked to yourself if you would jump off for approximately 2-3 story high cliff into the water. Note that the cliff is not a flat platform it’s quite slippery and rocky. Yep! Seems like it’s so hard to do it, but, if you’re too chicken to do this, you may go and jump-off. (Cause guys, I’m not kidding, it kind of freaks you out!) Since im a scary-chicken, we end up to swim in blue lagoon of the falls instead (for safety purposes).

After a looong and tiring swimming in lagoon, we end at the beautiful, yet sadly commercialized, Kawasan Falls. There, you can relax and have lunch, if you’re in “GIPIT” (it is advisable to bring your own food because the food is pricey here). You can also rent a raft and enjoy the view or even go under the falls (Locals that manipulate the wooden raft will also ask for tip). You can also rent a room for an overnight stay. (All the expenses in Kawasan Falls will be seen below the blogpost). Then, it wasn’t quite as tranquil as it looks though. There are just one too many colorful umbrellas on the side, too many vendors, and a whole lot of tourists. So just be prepared!

This is not yet the end of our adventure in Kawasan. Not so far in Kawasan Falls there’s a little falls along the river that we discovered. We don’t know the name of the falls yet, but surely you can also relax there. Here’s some photos that we have.

All in all it was a loooong but super worth it trip, and I’d definitely recommend it for a fun day trip in Cebu! So go out of your bubbles and get exploring!
